Human Trafficking Statement
FirstPoint Background Screening Resources is committed to supporting victims of human trafficking and complies with the CFPB’s rules to assist those who are victims. This statement outlines the process for victims to request the blocking of information in their background screening records.
How to Request a Block of Information in Your Background Report
The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires the following information from any person requesting a block of information on their background check.
Proof of Identity.
This documentation helps ensure that the request is legitimate and prevents unauthorized access to sensitive information.
- Consumer File Match – To establish your identity, provide your full name (first, middle, last, suffix), any previously used names, social security number and/or date of birth and;
- Additional Proof of Identity – Copies of government issued ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, utility bills, and/or other methods of your identity, which may include answering questions to which you may be expected to know the answer.
Documentation of Your Status as a Trafficking Victim.
A victim determination statement that establishes your status as a victim of human trafficking from one of the following:
- A Federal, State, or Tribal governmental entity.
- A non-governmental member of a human trafficking task force, including victim service providers affiliated with these entities and authorized by a Federal, State or Tribal government entity.
- A self-attestation by a consumer who identifies as a victim of human trafficking that is signed or certified by a Federal, State or Tribal government entity, court of competent jurisdiction, or an authorized representative of these entities.
Identify Items to Be Blocked
Clearly list any negative information that you believe should not be included in your report. This might include relevant evidence supporting your request, such as court documents, police reports, or letters from recognized organizations specializing in assisting trafficking victims.
Be assured, all submissions will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and sensitivity.
