Job Summary

Perform reference and background checks on applicants. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use investigative skills to locate and procure data from external sources.
  • Use computers and computer systems to secure information, enter data and process information.
  • Compile and prepare information or data in a timely manner as set forth by management.
  • Communicate with people outside the organization regarding reference and background information.
  • Receive information from both internal and external sources.
  • Evaluate information to determine if procedural requirements have been satisfied.
  • Maintain a familiarity with customer needs and quality standards.
  • Keep accurate records, reports and files.
  • Use general office equipment such as photocopier and facsimile machine.
  • Possess a willingness to accept other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Customer Service Skills:  Positive disposition that is displayed over the phone with attention to exceeding customer expectations and being a positive contributing member of the team
  • Time Management: The ability to shift back and forth between two or more sources of information.
  • Telecommunications and Electronic mail: Competent use of multi-line phone and professional email correspondence.
  • Oral Comprehension and Expression:  Actively listen to and understand information presented. Verbally convey information to other parties in such a manner that they can understand it.
  • Knowledge the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
  • Written Expression: The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand it.
  • Attention to detail: must provide complete and accurate records.
  • Clerical: Proficient typing skills and basic transcription skills.
  • Deductive reasoning: Determining the extent to which a reference should be pursued in various stages of the overall process.
  • Dependability: Responsibly and reliably fulfilling customer service needs.
  • Cooperative: Accommodate the needs of both customers and the team.
  • Ability to work autonomously with little supervision while also having strong interpersonal skills.
